ESB Energy announces price increase
26th October 2022
At ESB Energy, we strive to keep our prices as low and as competitive as possible. However, due to the continued considerable increases in the wholesale cost of electricity in the UK, as well as in Europe, and despite passing on 100% of the Government Support Scheme to our customers, we need to increase the price of charging across the network on a rolling basis in order to maintain our level of service.
The change will come into effect on Wednesday 2nd November.
What are the prices?
Please see the table below for full view of our new prices.
Birmingham and Coventry PAYG (pre pay)
Birmingham and Coventry Membership/Taxi
Fast Charging (<22kW, £/kWh)
Rapid Charging (50kW £/kWh)
Connection Fee (Contactless)
Monthly Subscription (N/A for Taxi)
The unit rate for drivers on Fleet charging plans will also change to £0.69 per kWh for rapid charging in London, £0.68 per kWh in Birmingham & Coventry, and £0.59 per kWh for fast charging. Note, this will come into effect on 28th November.
Do drivers need to do anything?
If you are already signed up to use the ESB Energy public charging network, you do not need to do anything – the new rates will be displayed on the EV Plug In app and you can continue to charge as normal.
If you have not signed up to an ESB energy PAYG, Membership, or Taxi plan, we encourage you to do so here.
